This course will provide all of the learning material required to cover any exam question. I have used techniques learnt at University that I wish I knew in GCSE to have absolutely maximised my exam result.

This course is designed for all exam boards (Edexcel, AQA and OCR). In addition, the course is designed for higher mathematics students, but can easily be used by foundation students if you read your syllabus (which I have attached) and ignore any material covered regarding higher level stuff. The syllabus for all three boards are exactly the same, it is the way information is presented and tested that is slightly different. So that is why you can use my material (slides, past papers etc) irrespective of your exam board.

I have carefully designed lessons with slides for each topic, it has been quite a long process but I really believe you will benefit from the presentation of material required in your exams! Slideshows for me are the most effective study tool and beats having to read a book, you can print them or view them on PowerPoint but please do not distribute them out since they are private property.

Please try to use the forums built for the course, as I will try to answer the questions and it will also help everyone else. It is a good way to learn collectively and I am sure you will gain from other people’s questions as well as them gaining from yours.

Along with my course, I would suggest to practice older past papers and also textbook questions. Who am I and what is the GCSE maths course about?

It is my passion for students to learn from my mistakes and to absolutely maximise their potential. This is all you can do and if you do this you can certainly celebrate and be happy! That is why rather than targeting a certain grade or percentage, I would say to maximise your ability by studying wisely. Hence, I have set up this GCSE maths course so that you can optimise your grade!

The way I have constructed the lessons in this GCSE maths course is via examples and questions.  Because this will help you understand the material clearer. Many students make the mistake of not revising effectively, and this is something I have tried to change with this course.

The main aspects behind GCSE Maths are for you to be able to understand the basics behind numbers, algebra, proportions, geometry and statistics. This knowledge will be pivotal as you continue learning about Mathematics! Try to spend some extra time when learning to visualise what you are doing and the implications of what you are learning. It is quite interesting thinking about practical examples and seeing how to apply the knowledge you have amassed.

As you go along the course, you will see that material interlinks and is closely related. Try to think about the connections and most importantly rather than memorize certain formulas in an abstract way, try to understand the intuition. Maths is not a great subject to just memorize facts/information since the application can be different in some questions. That’s why the key is for you to understand what the question is asking.

How to do past papers and questions?

In terms of questions and past papers, I would say my greatest advice would be to let yourself fail in practice. This may seem counterintuitive or difficult to do, but actually, failure is seen to the best way of learning. By this, I mean trying to solve the question even if you are not entirely sure on the answer. Try to check the correct answer until you have tried everything you can do. Therefore, when you get a similar question you will be able to overcome it. I made the mistake of always wanting to be correct. Hence, I used to look at the solutions prior to really trying the question. This is not a good method since your mind is not being tested as in an exam situation. Therefore you are not giving it the confidence that it can overcome problems by itself.

My solutions will help you understand how I got there and they are handy for any other past paper. Also, they will indicate which material is most likely to be applied. Please post your queries in the forum so everyone can benefit!

    This course is great for any exam board, and was well designed for AQA. The key to making the most of this course is to read the slides first then make notes as you watch the videos. By looking first at the slides you can understand what you are watching in the video, which makes it much more beneficial. Overall, this course was really useful. I found the slides invaluable, since it would take me forever to make notes so to have them already made really helped me!
